Day ThreeBack to support today. The one thing we are always short of on these projects is support, but at least I get to dive, just not in the cave. I'm outside again, this time outside the deep cave. Steve, Jaimi and John do all the running around today. I am supporting Neil who is taking the place of Leigh and Leigh is doing support for Gena. Leigh and I drop in 20 mins after the team. I am carrying my twinset, a 12ltr tank for me, a 12 for Neil and a 15 for Alexy. I drop down to 80 mtrs outside the deep cave, whilst Leigh stays up at 60 tracking me. I have never seen this cave so not exactly sure where they are going to come out. I have a VR3 brick on my wrist again... not a clue!!! Neil told me how to use it... long push on left button, followed by short push, then short push on right button is supposed to change my gas on the computer. All I get is some weird menu. After a few attempts I decided to give up on it, If all else fails VR3s can be used as a lead weight, we have enough of them on the boat to make up a good weight belt. Now don't get me wrong these computers are very good if you know how to use them- I dont... obvioulsy!!! I have a back up plan though so not all is lost. As the team ascends I have to give one tank to Alexy at 50 mtrs and then at 40, one to Neil. Problem is Neil is above evryone else on his plan so I have to stick with Alexy. He asks me if I will take his video camera, i do but now I am one hand down, but manage anyway to uncliip his tank. He passes me a used one which I just clip on the top clip not the bottom so it floats straight up in my face but I still have to get Neils tank out so I thought this was a good idea er NOT!!! I pass Neil's to him and the empty one from Alexy starts hitting me in the forehead. OUCH! Trying to clip this second tank up and the one from Alexy was rather fun with one hand. And then Alexy wanted me to take his scooter off him as well I DONT THINK SO! Thats it my job is done, back to the mooring for another 30 min deco stop. The deep cave we know now only goes to 150mtrs. We were hoping for another hole at the end of the chamber to explore, so tomorrow I get to go in the deep cave we have a clean up of lines to do, as that is the end of the project. We still think that above the shallow cave where there is another hole that might go somewhere but we dont really need a big project to explore that, we can do it on daily boats out to Ras Mohammed. So tomorrow I get to see Cappys home! DAY FOUR: Comment on this post: |
