Jilly does PADI!Day 5 - Need a cup of tea!!! I woke up this morning and really didnt want to get out of bed. The beds are so good, and the jet lag has gone, and its 6 in the morning in another country, where I really should be on holiday, not having heart palputations all the time!!! The PADI staff have put us under a gong system that we are all running scared of. Each team recieves points or loses points throughout the day. One really good way to lose points for your team, is to be late after a break or in the morning. With the bang of the gong, the day starts. I think they have it in for us green team guys 'cos when we answer questions, they forget to give us scores and when other groups do, they get 1000 points. I just hope the ones with the least points are the winners, 'cos we have it in the bag. This morning is a really good morning, James is lecturing and he is an awesome lecturer, very funny man. If you ever have a PADI seminar were he is speaking, you must go, he is worth while listening to. He has us doing a role play exercise whereby I am a IDC staff instructor and Richard is a Course Director. I have told all the students to fin pivot wrong (lie on your back with your legs behind your shoulders and breathe in and out- is that not the right way?!!! maybe I am on the wrong course), and he has to explain to me why I am breaking standards, but he taught me my Open Water course. Anyway the classroom I am ok with for now, that is until a couple of days' time when I have to give a prestentation. Into the water in the afternoon, and the PADI saff give a brief, demo, debrief of a skill and we have to mark it and get similiar scores to them. I am so pleased with myself I got the same as the examiner. Its so much easier watching someone else do the skills and not me, at least I have power over my body today . It is amazing to see other people scoring, one guy tried to take points off because the instructor didn't introduce his divemaster!! But that same guy wasnt too worried that the instructor in question couldn't fin pivot (the PADI Staff were doing the skill wrong on purpose, they really can do the skills right. Then again, I havent seen them do it right yet, maybe we should ask them to. But I reckon the green team could really lose points then!!). I also got my results from my exam today 96% whooo I passed. Tomorrow I will need to get my walkman out again with the breathing tape I think as I have CESA to do in the pool. ON TO DAY SIX: BACK TO THE BEGINNING: Email: |
